We are looking for a faith-filled, motivated, and experienced Assistant Controller to join the staff of our thriving 14,000-member Church. This position will be responsible for supervising the daily operations of the accounting office and is supported by 5 accounting personnel.

A successful Assistant Controller combines excellent analytical skills, a thorough knowledge of accounting principles and experience in coordinating the month-end close processes. The ideal candidate has prior experience overseeing operational accounting, fixed assets, general ledger activities, and preparing budgets, analyses, and financial statements.

JOB ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises the daily operations of the accounting office
  • Key player in month-end close activities and reporting
  • Manages the fixed asset process
  • Prepares all reporting and budgeting for the Missions team and acts as primary liaison
  • Reviews contribution activity and uploads to the accounting system
  • Completes monthly bank account reconciliations & financial analysis
  • Monitors internal controls and recommends updates as needed

  • Organizes and prepares audit support

REQUIREMENTS:

CPA with 7+ years of related accounting experience which includes supervision of staff and previous leadership experience. Must be self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision. Strong Excel skills and advanced knowledge of accounting systems required. Must have a solid, working knowledge of US GAAP.

A Foundation for Theological Education (AFTE) is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization founded in 1977 to strengthen the classical Christian witness within the United Methodist Church. The AFTE Coordinator is a part-time hourly position (20 hours per week) and is not eligible for benefits. Work schedule is Monday through Friday. Role may require seasonal weekend assignments to support AFTE events, including travel.

JOB DUTIES

  • Coordinate and execute administrative and financial support tasks in service to AFTE, within specified guidelines, to achieve the goals of the ministry
  • Communicate with constituents, donors, Fellows, Board members, and others, through emails, letters, and website content, including annual appeal letters/mailings
  • Maintain records and databases and provide reports regarding constituents and Fellows, using Microsoft Excel or similar software
  • Facilitate the annual selection process for AFTE Scholarships
  • Manages financials for AFTE including payment of vendor invoices, deposits, banking account and investment account reconciliations, and provides information for accountants and auditors
  • Work with multiple vendors to provide ancillary support services to AFTE
  • Plan, coordinate and administer assigned events and programs including, but not limited to meetings of the AFTE Board of Trustees, AAR/SBL Breakfast, Christmas Conference, and Wesleyan Witness Network, which includes making travel arrangements, coordinating invitations/ registrations, and communicating with attendees
  • Serve as a representative of AFTE at program events and in public and other settings, which may require local and interstate travel and weekend on site support

We are looking for enthusiastic, creative individuals who love children to join our Children’s Ministry Team! As a Children’s Ministry Team Member you will be involved in a variety of activities to share the gospel message with children from 3 years old to 4th grade. These activities include, but are not limited to fostering relationships with volunteers, teaching small and large groups, developing curriculum, shepherding our high school intern team, and administrative support functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of five years demonstrated, effective supervisory ministry leadership experience in a large church setting.
  • Well-rounded biblical background through formal education, or equivalent study and experience. Bachelor’s degree required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Design graphics for promotional materials for various church ministries including fliers, brochures, posters, table tents, brochures, T-shirts, etc.
  • Design graphics for projection screens and TV monitors
  • Design graphics for use on websites
  • Print, trim, paste, fold, and label printed materials as assigned
  • Assist with installation of large format graphics in display areas

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Relevant college degree and three to five years’ experience in a creative, professional environment required; Proficiency in Adobe CS software (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat) is required. Macintosh platform experience required. Experience with Microsoft Office software preferred; experience with animation software such as Adobe After Effects is preferred; photography skills are preferred.

This position is a part of The Woodlands Methodist Church Media Team, which resides in the Creative Services department. The person in this role will work alongside their fellow techs to provide technical services to church ministry clients and guests alike. This position receives task requests and scheduling assignments from the Media Scheduling Manager, who is also their direct supervisor. They may also receive instruction and requests from the Weekend Worship Manager and Production Manager, who work alongside the Media Scheduling Manager. This position is integrated into a team where participation in all events and tasks will be expected as assigned, however there will be heavy emphasis on lighting systems and programming.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in stage lighting design and systems
  • Proven experience in managing tasks and projects
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Excellent communication skills both in person and in writing
  • Able to perform under stress of live production and deadline driven environments

YOU WILL:

  • Be assigned to operate a Grand MA 2/3 lighting console during services each week.
  • Perform lighting system programming on a weekly basis in multiple worship venues.
  • Thoroughly check lighting systems for any needed maintenance or programming changes.
  • Personally perform basic maintenance needs such as changing fixture lamps, cleaning lenses, etc.
  • Work with the Scheduling Manager to create tasks or projects for team assistance in accomplishing lighting goals.
  • Follow industry safety standards in such situations as working at height and rigging of lighting fixtures.
  • Maintain an equipment inventory in multiple locations that requires diligence in proper storage, expendable purchasing, and communication of additional needs to your supervisor.
  • Be asked to perform duties that fall outside of the lighting category such as running audio for a presentation event, building video screens, or assisting in a scenic construction project.

This position will monitor the campus for building maintenance items, safety issues, prohibited or concerning behavior of persons throughout the campus, respond to emergency situations to minimize risk and / or loss to buildings, property or persons.

  • Assist facilities maintenance technicians with assigned campus maintenance needs.
  • Daily unlocking and locking of facility (verify campus is secure before leaving at night)

The Woodlands Methodist Church is seeking a highly qualified HR Director with a passion for serving others as part of a church leadership team. The church employs 500+ staff members, including faculty and staff of The Woodlands Methodist School, an accredited pre-K through 8th grade private Christian school.
